Bullen Stone is the largest and oldest family owned supplier of natural stone along the Gulf Coast. Our stone is used by professional builders, masons, landscapers, homeowners and do it yourself enthusiast alike. We have always been locally owned and operated since our father began selling natural stone in 1958. Ernie Bullen moved to Gulfport in 1955 and soon began selling stone from a lot on East Pass Road, while continuing to provide quality masonry work all across the Gulf Coast.
Ernie learned the art of natural stone craftsmanship while working with his father and older brother as stone masons in Tennessee. He joined the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craft workers in 1942. His talent was evident on the celebrated Broadwater Beach Hotel in Biloxi and Annie’s Restaurant in Henderson Point, both were destroyed by Hurricane Katrina in August 2005. There are many other homes, churches, and businesses that show his artistry and love for quality stonework. This appreciation for the multifaceted usages and elegance of natural stone has been passed down to his children keeping Bullen Stone Company motivated to providing our customers with the finest natural stone available.
The current Long Beach location was acquired in 1964 and became the main site of operations for the sale of natural stone. At that time we focused predominantly on the wholesaling needs of contractors, architects, and landscapers using decorative stone for a wide variety of applications. In 1990, Bullen Stone Company incorporated and began expanding our selection of natural stone inventory to include stone from all across the United States. Most of our stone suppliers we have meet personally and have done business with for decades. We strive to offer quality natural stone at wholesale prices to professional builders and also to the public.
In 2008, Ernie Bullen passed Bullen Stone Company, Inc. on to his children, who now work together to continue his legacy and vision expressed in Proverbs 16:3, “Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.” We invite you to stop by or call and discover the great selection of natural stone for your next creative project.
